Kindy savings in 2023

Families and service providers can work out how much Queensland Government kindy funding a service provider will receive by visiting the Kindy savings page.​​ Families can show this result to their chosen sessional kindergarten service or long day care service when talking about how much it will cost.

Funding

Funding is provided to eligible service providers to assist with the costs of delivering a kindergarten program through 1 or more grants.

  • Base subsidy—provided for each eligible enrolled child.
  • Affordability subsidy—provided for each eligible child who meets 1 or more specified criteria.
  • Service location subsidy—provided for each eligible child to service providers in regional and remote locations (as defined by the Australian Bureau of Statistics remoteness measure at the SA2 geographic level).
  • Educational need grant—provided to eligible service providers as determined by the Department of Education to respond to children's learning and developmental needs through evidence-based initiatives.
  • Inclusion subsidy—provided to service providers to support the inclusion of eligible children, irrespective of diversity of background or additional needs.

To qualify for Queensland kindergarten funding, long day care services or sessional kindergartens must be an approved kindergarten program provider.

Please note that the eligibility for funding only applies until 31 December 2023, after this date, kindy (15 hours a week or 600 hours a year in a government-approved kindy program) will be free.
