Description
Services can draw on existing relationships with government and non-government agencies in their local area that can provide capability development and professional support for educators in areas related to the identified Kindy uplift priorities.
This may involve agency staff collaborating with staff in the service in a mentoring capacity or providing professional guidance and practice strategies.
These agencies may have a family support or outreach function and can support educators to strengthen their ways of working with families to enhance outcomes for children in the home, service and community.

Implementation considerations
Prerequisites: The partnering agency should:
- be providing support to families and the local community in an area connected to the Kindy uplift priority areas
- be recognised in the community as providing a valued and trusted service
- be able to apply family-focused supports to educator practice.
Considerations: This item cannot be used to:
- facilitate individualised child-specific assessment, intervention, therapy, support or referral services
- deliver family support services from the ECEC service
- secure referrals for the agency’s services.
The purpose of this approach is to enhance the capability of educators and strengthen the learning program to respond to the needs of children across the kindergarten cohort.
Backfill: Services should consider the cost of providing backfill if required to allow educators to participate in collaborative professional learning.
Contacts: Services can identify relevant local government and non-government agencies.
